Hello Mr. Carew,
I am recruiting players for this year's golf tournament benefiting the Children's Language Center of Orange County. The details are below. I would like to invite you and a guest to participate for free. The fee for the tournament is normally $250. Having played in the tournament in previous years, I assure you, this is a fantastic bargain. Lots of fun, free food, drinks and the silent auction is amazing. The free gifts alone exceed $250.
Please let me know if you have any other former Angels players that would also like to play in the tournament for free as my guest.
You can contact me via email or my cell phone number is (949) 302-4168.
I hope you can participate and look forward to hearing from you.
Best Regards,
Dave Barron

Description
The Liberty Mutual Invitational has joined with the RiteCare Classic to host our 2010 golf tournament benefiting the Children's Language Center of Orange County (the Santa Ana Scottish Rite Language Center). At the Center, we help kids overcome speech and language obstacles so they can speak, hear, understand, learn and socialize.
Thousands of children need our services, and this event is our major source of funding each year. Your support is critical to the continuance of this program, and participating is a great way to have fun and help the kids.

My eight-year-old son Logan has just informed me that you are one of his all-time favorite players. That is, after I explained to him who you were. He seems to love baseball players that were not only great players, but were players that kept their cool as they played the game. I think that is why he also loves Andre Dawson too. He seems to have this love for what he calls old-school-players. Anyway, we just recently purchaed your Hall Of Fame jersey when we attended a Seattle Marines vs. Boston Red Sox game in Seattle. Logan simply can't wait to were the jersery to the next local ball game we go to, so that he can show all of his friends the jersery of one of his all-time favorite players. Thank you for being such a class act, and one of the best of all time, it makes it a pleasure to share one the greatest players I ever watched with my baseball loving eight-year-old son. I'm sure Logan will spend a lot of time in the future bragging about you. When the topic of greatest players/hitters of all time comes up, Logan will be campaigning for you, or at least you and Andre Dawson both. Thanks again & take care.

It's great to see that you have this website, it was a terrific day when Cooperstown enshrined you into the hall.
You're the greatest hitter that I ever saw.

Hi Rod, you were my favorite player as a kid growing up in the 70's. I have great memories of watching you play at Met Stadium. I was at the game against the White Sox when your average went over .400 for the first time. What a great year 1977 was to be a Twins fan! I look forward to meeting you sometime! Bob

Mr Carew if I were to mail you an Angel baseball for you to sign what would that cost me? I have always thought you brought total class to the game

Cousin Rod,
Thank you for the wonderful Rod Carew Angels Jersey that you signed for my son Fletcher. It is now framed and on his wall. I appreciate Mike and you taking the time to do that for my son and me. I can't wait until he is older and I can tell him stories of watching you bat with the Angels when I was a kid and trying to copy you in my little league.
Thanks,
Brett

I so enjoyed watching you play for the Angels in the 80's, you are one of the greatest ball players. It's funny, I now live in AZ and follow the DBack's and your name and what an amazing player you were is mentioned frequently on air during the DBack's games (FSN) by Daron Sutton (Don Sutton's son). Wow, what a tribute to you - good memories to me.

Here's to you, Rod Carew. Most enjoyable 'hitter' I grew up watching. Thanks for playing the game the right way, and for the memories.

I'm 51. I remember Rod Carew as a great hitter for the Twins, MANY times stealing home..hoping Harmon Killebrew got the signal when he was at bat. Most of all I remember Mr. Carew speaking at a little town up north when I was a young lad. A class guy.

It was a thrill for me to sit with my grandfather behind 1st base at Met Stadium and watch you play baseball a fine as you did. I watched you play a superb 2nd base, put the ball in play either with a hit or bunt, run the bases and steal home like no one else has ever done. I look forward to showing my son your bronze statue at gate 29 at Target Field. I wish you well.
